Your (literal) closest friends or enemies, neighbors are an inevitable aspect of moving out in the world. Being on good standing with your neighbors builds stronger communities, and can give you a network to lean on if needed. Just remember to return the favor!
Benjamin Franklin is quoted as saying, “He that has once done you a kindness will be more ready to do you another, than he whom you yourself have obliged.” Consider asking a small favor of your neighbor as a way to introduce yourself. Curiously, it has been shown asking a small favor as an introduction leads people to like you more. Then your neighbor will be able to call upon you for a small favor, and you can help them, showing you’re reliable and trustworthy.
